On a palette (can be a piece of plastic of some kind... i.e. plastic plate) scribble some spots of color. Wet your brush and dip it in the color on the plate. Voila! Easy watercolor! I got these today....very cool! From JHDER--a girl having a tea party with two dolls and a bear--all beautifully colored in. This is layered over striped paper like wallpaper and then onto a white card. Just delightful! Where is this stamp from? It looks like me a few years ago.... From DLJ--She stamped an image of a playful (skipping?) girl with a doll--and colored the doll's outfit to match the girl's. Nice touch! Layered this onto a blue square of cardstock, corners punched with a heart punch, then on a larger square of lighter blue with turquoise hearts stamped in the corner. Then the card is layered onto a round white doily. Very elegant. From NanStamps (a.k.a. our wonderful hostess!) She stamped and colored a girl with a doll and also a dog carrying a doll by the arm, then cut these out and layered them--along with some blue paper lace and a gold bow onto a mulberry colored piece of cardstock, edged, then onto a light blue linen card. Gorgeous! Pat Fowler sent a really whimsical book mark. A doll (standing in profile) is stamped and colored, then cut out, layered onto white mulberry-type paper, then onto a lavendar bookmark. She used purple ribbon for the tassle and glued a purple button over where you'd usually see the punch on the bookmark? And added a purple bow at the bottom. Really well done. Nicole Gonzalez's card is really cheerful. A rag doll with wings is embosed in gold and colored in, then layered onto a red notecard cut like a heart. She added a lace bow at the top and flecked the background with gold as well as adding a seam kind of border in black. Inside she stamped "My heart belongs to you."would work well for "thinking of you" and "get well" kinds of cards as well as valentines. These are all just wonderful and I really appreciate the time everyone put into this swap. Thanks to Nan, too--you're always such a great hostess (and to hubby, as I think he helped out...or was that another swap?) Happy stamping! What I do depends on the look I want. Sometimes, like with exotic papers I've wet and pulled, I'll only glue down the middle of the paper so the edges, which look feathery, can stick out. Other times, I want each individual "feather" to stand out, so I use rubber cement on both papers, totally coating the layer and slightly coating the bottom one. Stick em together and they look great. Hugs, Jody MorrCatsNRubbr >When you are layering cards do you completely glue each layer down on >top of each other...or do you glue just part of it. (No, not a flame war on this, too! :) Seriously, this is what I do....since I use colored pencils most of the time, I stamp up cards and envelopes and keep them in a plastic tray that goes with these plastic pencil holders I have and color the cards while watching t.v. and also traveling. And Michele's suggestion about giving those stamped index cards away, reminded me of something else. One of the first stamping projects I did was gift tags. I hadn't been stamping very long and I just cut up blank index cards and some white card stock into different size tags and stamped them, mostly with the mini-ANM foam stamps I had. Just stamped them. No embossing, coloring, etc. I didn't even know how to do that stuff! Anyway, I got a little carried away and made tons. My mom put some in little cardboard boxes (the kind you get earrings in if you order them thru the mail or whatever) and tied them with bows and we gave them to people as pre-Christmas gifts. (The tags were for all occasions.) People went WILD over them! It cracks me up now that I'm such an "artist"--it's easy to forget how impressive just plain stamping is. I still have people comment about how much they liked them and we still have a box full of them that we use (like I said.....I got carried away!) This would probably be a good project for kids, too, if you wanted to do a family kind of thing. It's not as intimidating as making cards. Happy stamping! (And have fun on your trip, Katchoo!) I am way behind on my email - waaaaaay behind! I'm keeping up with the business end of things, but I need to answer lots of personal mail. So please be patient if you're waiting for a reply - it's after midnight and I have a craft fair tomorrow that I'm trying to get ready for - have been having very nasty headaches all week and know alot of it has to do with the weather changes here. (the prediction is possible snow over the weekend!) We are also getting a carbon monoxide detector tomorrow - I have a really strange feeling some of it may have to do with our wood stove, since my husband and MIL are also having lots of headaches, too. Meanwhile we have lots of windows open - it's cold for this, but I don't want to take any chances. Anyway, please be patient with me - after tomorrow things will slow down for a week or two - then the big craft fair season starts!! I'm loving all the tips - have saved them all so I can read them thoroughly Sunday. Can't remember who started this today (was it you, Peter Pan?), but it's really refreshing!! A very nice personal note was written in gold on the back and the transparent envy was filled with sun, moon and stars confetti. It looked great coming through the mail! Thanks, Betsy. This may sound mean and cruel, but I told her that it would hurt like the dickens and then some. I did this with the theory that after I told her that, and she still wanted it done, then she was serious about it. I will say that she was and is an only child and perhaps was a bit more mature than some five year olds. She still insisted on getting it done, so it was a birthday gift to her from me. She was great! Not a single tear, not a flinch, nothing and she came out of the chair grinning and excited. It did start to sting and ache an hour or so later, but she still never cried or complained, just commented on it. She did admit it really hurt when it was done, but she was glad she did it. Perhaps that started her down the slipperly slope of body decoration . She now has 6 holes in her ears, one a high piercing, a belly button ring and a tattoo..so you may want to think about that . All in all, it was a good experience for us..and this post is only my opinion. I'm gonna add a new twist to it tho, gonna do my EP's, so I know what they look like before I put them on a card. Brenda "... two 3 X 5 index cards and stamp the image once on each card. Then....on both cards I put the manufacturer, price, date purchased, whether its mounted or not, and the category I think the stamp should be in. I file one of the cards alphabetical by stamp company and the other one by category."
