I partipated in the 5-Hour Swap---and was *THRILLED* with the results. I asked Nancy if she was going to host another one--but she replied that she is booked up with swaps until after the 1st of the year......and indicated that I could host a similiar swap. So..since I can't wait any longer........I propose a "WOW!" swap.....because that's what I said as I took out every card from the 5-hour swap..... Any theme -- no card can be too detailed or over-decorated. Each card must take at *least* an hour to make. Come on in! Name of Swap: "WOW" Swap Format: Cards, Postcards, frames, projects, etc. Description: Cards must take 5-25 hours (to complete the set) and must include at least one gratuitous gewgaw, bauble or charm. (need to spend at least on hour on each card!) Hosted By: Deni Johnson Email: denij@athenet.net Items Info: 5 for 5---if you send an extra for me--I'll include a "Jumping Jack Flash" card and pattern to you--it's a GREAT pop-up for all occasions--I learned it from a Judi-Kins rep at a class last spring. There is one featured in the New Rubber Stamper Magazine. Due Date: Postmarked October 30 Mailing Info: Nancy had said that the postage cost was over what she had anticipated--and I don't want to go broke mailing these back! Please send $3 to cover priority mailing back to you (The package I got back cost $3 and was huge). I suggest you use a LARGE padded mailer to send--and then I'll send it back to you in the same mailer--nice and secure--please include an address label for return mail. (I haven't got the hang of this list yet. I don't like sitting in front of the computer very much and ended up with over 1,400 messages staring me in the face that I really didn't want to tackle.) I have several pads of these papers that I bought from Michael's and another art store (can't remember which one). I like them, but I like all kinds of paper in general. I paid $2.73 for a pad of 40 sheets, size 9x12 and $5.51 from an art store and about $7.65 *less 40% with Michael's coupon* for a pad of 40 sheets, size 12x18. So on average, you can get this paper for 6 to 7 cents for a 9x12 sheet which I think is a very good deal for cardstock. I've used them as much as I've used linen and confetti cardstock. Diderly@aol.com: (I'm sorry if that's not how you spell your name) a card using black cardstock, a red ribbon down the side, and embossed cherries placed on the card. No Name: On beige cardstock a park bench with flowers and a hat and a birdhouse, all very neatly colored in. Susan AKA CoffeeStamper: On white cardstock the parkbench, but she has added a portion of a fence. She has some blue on the top of the card for the sky, and has rounded the corners and used two sizes of heart punches and added a ribbon in one corner. No Name: A layered card with a lady whose arms are loaded with baskets, flowers, watering can. Parts of the picture are embossed with black. There is a sunflower added for three dimension. I know my descriptions do not give any of these cards justice - They are all very pretty, and since I have some of these stamps, I'll be trying some of the techniques soon. Thanks. WOW!!!!!! Sorry to shout but I was floored today by StamPerson (Sara Humphery-Knight)!!! She RAK'd my class!!! Last week I wrote an email describing the cards that my students did for their parents, and Sara emailed me asking if they could use some Spanish stamps since they were Bilingual. I said, "Sure", and gave her the school's address. Well, today as I was going home the office manager said you got a package. I was excited because I thought it was some books but when I saw who it was from, I got doubly excited. Not only did Sara send the Spanish stamps, but she sent: =95A brand new set of awesome teacher stamps from Stampin' Up =95Stampin' Up Celebration Mini set of stamps =95ANM Christmas set of stamps =95Stampin' Up Christmas Bulb Mini Set =953 bags of blank bookmarks =954 packages of Doorknob hangers =9517 small and 2 large blank puzzles and envelopes to match WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!! My class will be so thrilled and so grateful for all the goodies. My carpool partner was floored by how generous you were. She kept saying, You don't know this person? And She sent your class all this? " She was blown away with your generosity Sara as was I. Sara also sent a card with everything written perfectly in Spanish, and then she apologizes for her Spanish. I know I could not have done better. You need to be on the look out for some Halloween thank you cards Sara. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! If you are using Excel, Lotus or some other spread sheet program, just copy and paste the snail list into the spread sheet program and then use the Find feature to find anything you want. Much faster, much easier and no retyping. If you (or anyone on the list) need more help, email me privately and I'd be glad to give you more detailed instructions. Cheers!!! Cynthia, If you don't own one, buy a brayer. Brayers and dye ink were made for each other. Be sure to get a longer one (like 6" or so). The little one (2"?) just creates problems. Oh, and I'm talking about a soft rubber brayer, not a sponge brayer. Cheers!!! Christine P.S. I'll be changing Internet Providers in the next few days. Very Cool indeed...and keeping the mailbox (and me) quite happy. Today's card is from Lynn Legge. On white paper with subtle clouds in the background, Lynn has stamped a wicker basket, embossed in some kind of wonderful gold. This has been cut out and mounted 3-D style. Inside the basket, also cut out and mounted 3-D style are 4 adorable black cats embossed with various colors. There is a little red ribbon bow glued to the handle of the basket and the saying at the top says, I thought of you today." This ws embossed in gold also. Wonderful card.
