In fact, I haven't found any other way to use the finely detailed Magenta stamps than with a brayer on glossy card stock. The shape is reminiscent of a paint roller (for rolling paint on your walls?), except that the handle is only about 4" long and the roller part is only about 6" long. The roller is made of soft rubber (there's also a sponge type for a "mottled" effect and a hard rubber type). Depending on the look you want you can use glossy paper for a very evenly covered, bright colored look (in fact, I use this rather than using colored glossy paper. I just make my own colors) or you can use it on matte paper incorporating the texture of the paper (if any) into the final look of the card. You can use this tool in many, many ways...>> Hey, everybody!! Inky Antics has got brayers and cool rainbow pads for sale! The extra-wide size means smooth and even ink coverage, and you can make beautiful backgrounds using a giant rainbow pad or a handful of water-based markers! $14.95 each. (B) Giant Rainbow Ink Pad...This super-sized ink pad is perfect for use with the 6" brayer sold above, or simply tap your stamps directly on the felt surface for a beautiful blend of color. Made by Crazy Horse and measures approximately 4 1/4" by 7 1/2"; choose "Blue Bayou" (lovely greens and blues) or "Fruit Cocktail" (contains lemon yellow, sherbet orange, pink, and lilac). $14.95 each. Jana D: A little girl bear with a pumpkin costume on - Behind her the word Boo. Deseary Miller: An orange rectangle with a wonderful green spider web coming out from the upper left corner. (It was for two days, ended today at 4.) For the record, next year's show will be on Oct. 11 and 12. If anyone's interested in vendoring there, you could let me know and I'll send ya the addy of whom to get in touch with, okay? So! I spent 3.5 hrs. there. There were 23 booths -- approx. how many booths are at one of those big conventions??? Does anyone know if there's ever a convention in Spokane, WA??? They had sit-and-watch classes every hour (I didn't attend any). Examples of classes are: Watercolor Pencils & Tombow Blenders; Scrapbooking For the Stamper; Stamping on Round Items; A Man's Approach to Industrila Stamping (hmm, that would've been an interesting one!) .... et. al. This was the first stamp show I've ever attended. I'd like to ask you vendors who've set up at stamp conventions: Do you sell your items at a really nice discount at conventions, or do you have just one particular "show special" to offer buyers? The reason I ask this is cuz these vendors showing in Idaho mostly seemed to be there to get your big bucks and not necessarily to give you any good deals ... *most* of the vendors there, IMO, were like that. I was *very* glad to see quite a few UMs there cuz that's all I was really interested in. I didn't want to "waste" my money on wood-mounts, now that I've switched to HALOS. (Sheryl, you really *must* set up at this show next year, everyone around here *needs* to know about your terrific product!!) Okay, now to let you in on the goodies I came home with (let me go get my bag): [] There's this company called "Vrh artworks" (Vrh is the person's last name!) -- they sell handmade papers, marbled papers, wearable art, etc. I bought some very pretty teal handmade paper; a 10x12 piece of gorgeous marbled paper (in a transparent envy!); two silk-screened cards (penguin; 3 cats) beautifully done! (and these came in reusable transparent envys!); and some little shapes (geometric and cats) made out of handmade paper that I think was lots of pieces glued together cuz it's nice 'n thick -- gonna be great for layering! This family's located right there in Coeur d'Alene so I'll have to visit their shop someday. I thought their prices were quite reasonable. [] from Country Impressions (Kellogg, ID), I purchased green, aqua, and lavendar sheets of foil (25 4"x4" pieces for $1.75!) *and* ... a bag of feathers -- which I *definitely* have to keep away from my felines! I plan to use those on some Native American cards! [] I got to make a "bubble-icious" postcard. I never saw this done before, maybe you did. It's really kewl! You mix about 10 drops liquid hand-soap to 10 drops acrylic paint, add a little water. Put that in a cup. Use a straw to blow bubbles till the bubbles are *above* the rim of the cup. Now gently touch the card to the bubbles, being careful to *not* touch the rim of the cup or you will get a direct circle-line. This makes *fantastic* backgrounds!!! You can use just one color or use different colors on one page. They had a demo card where orange paint was used on a black glossy card. Wonderful for autumn!! ..... Oh yah, I bought some matchbook li'l notebooks (20 cents each) -- can't wait to stamp on those 'n give 'em away. What fun!! [] UMs: beautiful pottery bowl; spiraled circle design; furry kitty-from-behind (sitting); petroglyph ram; petroglyph buffalo; a gorgeous, huge zebra's head/neck [4"x2.5"]; a beautiful tiger's head. [] A large piece of very-pretty lavender handmade paper. That's all I can think of to say about the show. Gotta get this sent now. And, no, you can't have my Bud Light...though you could if I had one. :) I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and condolences about Pilgrim. It means so much and I've saved all the posts. (Now I'm going to start crying again just writing this!) The outpouring of love I've received has just been incredible. I'm doing okay, crying a lot, but also feeling really blessed to have had Pilgrim in my life and very humbled by all the thoughtful people in the world. Also, rubber is very good therapy. (Will my insurance cover it? :) Anyway, I really appreciate all your support, Cynthia This message was from Cynthia Sillitoe - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. The Fiskars decorative scissors that look like postoids, are the "teeth" small enough to look like a postoid stamp? Or would it look like a bad attempt? These scissors are great, and yes, they really do look like a postoid stamp. They're also great on the edges of cards with a little bit of gold embossing powder or paint on them, and of course, great for layering!! I purchased more than I can use. I bought a bunch and had it cut down from Parent sheets to 8.5 X 11. It is the 90 basis or #90 Leather Embossed paper in ORANGE. On one side it has the texture of leather and is smooth on the other side. It would be happy to part with some of this for $3.00 per 25 sheets plus postage. This is not meant to compete with any of the wonderful list vendors. This is a one time thing with this paper. I got a good buy and over did it a bit in the glow and excitement of the moment. Still have some in trunk of car cause too embarrassed for hubby to know JUST how much I over did it............. . If you would like some of this please e-mail me privately. I saw the reversing stamp at a store the other week and they sold quickly. But if a brayer works like it, it would be a two- in- one sort of tool. I was wondering if it was ok to send them to our SS? Personally I wouldn't mind gently used RS from my SS. I have bought some stamps that I just don't care for and never use. It's possible that my SS may like them. I'm not trying to sound cheap, it's just an idea.
