I have the chance to move into an apt. it is the 3rd floor (read: attic) of an old 1920's house: finished very nicely, a/c, hardwood floors, etc. All the amenities, EXCEPT washer/dryer. It is in a gentrified, but on the edge of, downtown neighborhood. Rent is $325, free cable, usual utilities. Downside: 3 floor walkup, neighbors in the house VERY touchy about noise, no washer dryer hookup. Have to go to the laundrymat, whichwould the entail lugging laundry baskets up 3 floors. (remember, i have arthritis & fibromyalgia) where i am now is 12 miles out of town, nice, quiet, 2nd floor, washer/dryer, pay $410 +utilities. I have always wanted to live on the East End (that's where the apt is) in one of the old cool houses, but i hesistant because of the 3rd floor walkup and no washer/dryer hookups. Can anyone give me any hints on how to make a decision like this? mars mannix (paralyzed by indecision....) I am floored! What GREAT cards! From Laurie Morrison, the words from "Annie Laurie" on vellum tied with a purple ribbon to a white card with thistles on it. Neat! From Jen Decker, purply-lavendar speckly card stock, layered on top with a turquoise card stock with gold celtic knots with a layer of embossing over the whole thing. Very elegant. From Oakleyme(?) a beautiful photo of a country stream with birds, reeds and a bunny stamped on it layered on a rust colored card. This is cool! From Sue Shotwell, a beautiful card on kraft cardstock with on top is a circle stamp with horses and celtic knots cut out and layered onto square of dark green cardstock with a gold border layered onto a square of white. Inside is a white writing paper with green celtic knots and green speckles. Matching envy! Very classy. From Sharon, a white glossy cardstock layered on top of that is a piece of plaid paper and then yellow paper. On top of that is a plaid star and a bagpiper and a question: How so you stop a band of Pipers? Inside: Lead them past the beer tent! True, how true. Funny card. From Stuko Posto: 2 cards! one on black cardstock with a piper embossed in gold with a piece of black watch plaid paper. Inside is a picture taken at Edinburgh Castle of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo at night. Stunning! The other is a sage green card with a square on its corner open with the inside of the square folded back and held in place with gold photo corners. Under the folded back triangles is a frame stamp embossed in gold. Inside the cut out square is a thistle embossed in gold on cream colored paper. It's so hard to describe, but it's just beautiful! From Deanna - on vellum tied to dark green cardstock with dark green ribbon is PSX botanical (my fav) of Hydrangea embossed in green EP with gold sparkles (what is this? I want some), colored from behind in magenta. The edge of the vellum was cut with deco scissors. Gorgeous! From Gloria - on vellum tied to colonial blue leather look cardstock with a pink ribbon is a cute girl in a garden embossed in white. Parts of her were colored in from the back (nice subtle touch) with a pink button holding the vellum down in the top right corner. Nice touch! From Ingrid - on vellum tied to sky blue cardstock tired with a baby blue bow is a reindeer rocking horse being ridden by a teddy and bunny embossed in white. Some was colored in on the front and some colored from behind. Neat technique! Heartwarming card. From Lisa - on vellum layered over a light orchid card stock is a castle embossed in white sparkly EP with an fairy angel flying above. On the cardstock below is stamped purple stars so they show thru the vellum and on top of the stars is stamped a nice saying. I like this technique! From Sandy Lane - something very different! She colored her vellum in rainbow colors with wet tissue paper and then in sparkly black EP she stamped a fan and placed quilled roses on the bottom of the fan. This is over white cardstock with faint dots. Cool! From Robin Moore - something else different! Black cardstock sponged with gold and metallic purple. On top is vellum cut with deco scissors with goldish/greenish metallic somehow sponged or painted on(?) with two maple leaf outlines embossed in a pearly EP white EP with 3 smaller ones around it. Inside the clear envy are oak leaves punched out of cream colored paper. This is very neat!! Also received a piece of vellum paper! Thanks! Neat swap. I learned some neat tricks! Are you using a pumice stone or emory board type product to "sand" the ink (and some skin along with it) off your fingers at the end of a project? YIKES! No more! Everyone who tries Inky Fingers Soap is amazed how well it works and how gentle it is! I'm selling these all-natural, handcrafted bars of soap, wholesale only, to stores and vendors around the country and adding new locations every day. You can see my ad in RSM (pg. 45!) and stores currently carrying Inky Fingers are listed on my web page. If your favorite store or vendor doesn't carry Inky Fingers Soap, yet, ask them for it! My 3 1/2 yr old daughter has gotten sick in the last couple of hours - sounds really congested and having trouble sleeping - has a real raspy 'croupy' sounding cough - not real frequent, but enough to disturb her sleep. I have given her a children's tylenol, a 1/2 dose of decongestant/cough medicine, and have the vaporizer going in her room. About every 1/2 hour she wakes up crying and uncomfortable - - anyone have any suggestions? I know what brought this about - I caught her outside this afternoon without a coat on - and it was only about 38 degrees outside. It was a nice sunny day and I guess she just felt she didn't need the coat. And here I thought I was going to get to bed early tonight! Oh well... Well, Happy Birthday to You,Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday Me Too!!!! It's My Birthday Too Yeah! We're Gonna Have a Good Time, I'm Glad It's Your Birthday, Happy Birthday to You!!!! It really is my Birthday too, I'm really not all that crazy.......well, then again, who am I trying to convince, another Libra?....Well then maybe just a little (we won't let on to just how crazy, OK? ) Anyway, I'm excited cause I collect dolls and restore them and the hubby and kids got together and got me an original Ideal "Saucey Walker" with the flirty eyes, a "Miss Curity "(Toni) and a fuzzy "Ewok"! Also an eigth edition Doll collectors book! I felt like a kid again!!! But I never was a grown up to begin with!! It was really nice cause I don't have family here and it gets kinda lonely around Birthdays and Holidays, so I'll just go play with my Dolls. I had "Saucey's" head off the next morning cause she needed to have her eyes cleaned and adjusted , kinda like an attitude adjustment!(she looked a little scarry with her eyes sunken in her head, or at least my kids thought so!!) Now she's a pretty baby!! "Toni" was naked so she needed to be dressed! My poor husband thinks I'm nuts!! The dolls are taking over the living room!! I was at a thrift store a couple of days ago and I was doing my usual scan of the toy isle and You won't believe what I found amongst the rubble! A genuine MINT condition "BARBIE" with the ponytail (no bangs) She' s gorgeous! I'm not kidding when I say I went weak in the knees!! (isn't that sick?) My husband said "I remember when I did that to you!" and I told him "You still do honey, but there's just something about HARD PLASTIC that drives me CRAZY!!!" (just kidding!!) Well , I hope you had a great day too!! TTFN (ta,ta, for now!) She has also just lost her drivers license (thank heavens!). She's lonely and feels like we have all deserted her - she doesn't understand that the whole family can't live in the same house with her, but that's another story. The doctors say she's fine, but she won't eat properly, etc. Anyway, can you please add her to your prayer list and maybe send a card??? E-mail me for her addy if you're interested.
