I don't have children to worry about, but I still feel that decorating and celebrating Christmas is important. Even though I'm single I have a HUGE amount of stuff - -over 1500 books, 1000+records, 500+ c.d's, enough clothes to start an outlet, not to mention 2000 stamps and accessories. And we can't forget LARGE furniture and wall units. It was daunting to pack and difficult to unpack. I also had the "Movers from Hell" as my moving company. They were late, and slow and to save money I only had them put the furniture in the correct rooms, the boxes stayed in the living room. This left me with a mountain of over 250 boxes to empty and put in the correct rooms. Horror. I had no room for a tree, so I bought a tiny fake one to put in a window, I had to go to work and could only unpack in the evenings, so the sight of the boxes wasn't just ugly, it was depressing. I put some garland and lights in the windows and I covered the boxes with inexpensive holiday table cloths! It actually cheered up the place! I don't know if this will help or not. My other thought will be to let the kids stamp the outside of the packing boxes in Christmas stamps. Good luck. You'll feel great once this is over! So many people have offered to send cards to her since I told about her cancer many months ago, but I always declined, knowing that I didn't have time to return the favor. Well, I'll find a way.....'cause I think it would help her forget the pain. I'm so hesitant to write about her because I don't want anyone to feel sorry for her and talking about stuff like this cana be so depressing, but she's such an inspiration to me and maybe telling her story will help someone else. I flew home from California on Wednesday since she hadn't been able to leave the hospital because of a fever.....but she's home now and her out of state kids have flown in to be with her again. She brought the machines home that feed her....she is hooked up for 14 hours but has 10 hours during the day she doesn't have to have them attached so I got my first email from her in over a month last night. She's excited to be getting some nutrition finally. She isn't even able to drink water by mouth as her organs just won't work to even move water through. Doctors cannot believe how strong her heart and will to live are.....she's already survived much longer than they said, and she's not about to give up. She is still determined to get well enough that she can go on a mission for our church with her husband. She checks that mailbox every day waiting to get their "call". You're supposed to be in good health to go on a mission, but local church leaders signed all the necessary papers for her to be able to go.....but it's already been 3 weeks longer than it usually takes to receive the information of where you get to "serve". The formal call comes from church headquarters here in Salt Lake. They don't even know about her recent month-long hospitalization and problems, so that can't be the delay. Anyway, I thought it might make her happy to get something else in her mailbox. Her name is Marilyn Whipple, her snail addy is 200 Almeria Place, Winters California 95694 This is one neat lady......the happiest person I know.....doesn't feel sorry for herself in any way. Told me Monday when I was with her, that if she'd known she'd have to go through this, but that she'd still get to have the family and friends and life she's had these 59 years, she'd still do it all again. It's a small price to pay for her great blessings. She says she's the luckiest person alive. She isn't strong enough to send thank you's, but if you'll mention to me that you sent her a card, I'll find a way to return the favor. Thanks so much.....and one more favor. I think I'm almost caught up on orders after being gone the whole week to the convention and staying to be with Marilyn, but in all the confusion and trying to get ready for the Arizona convention, I may have missed something. Please let me know if I haven't responded to your inquiries or if you didn't get something I promised. Hope if we made mistakes on any orders that you'll understand and will let us fix it when we return. If any orders come while we're in Arizona, we'll get right on them when we return....leaving Thursday, returning Sunday. Another favor.....been getting checks that don't say what they're for, and since our computer crashed and we reinstalled stuff, I don't have that feature that let's me organize messages by name so I can find what your order was.....so please tell me what to send in with your checks. Does anyone know what I have to do to get that feature back? Thanks for your business, but most of all the caring and the kind messages and notes you send to our family. My wonderful SS ordered a gift certificate to use with Dawn for the company of my choice. She also arranged for Dawn to send me a catalog. Dawn contacted me and I decided on Judikins/Carmen Veranda. Now the hard part will be choosing! But since it's a gift, I don't have to be practical. I'll post again once I make my choice. Thank you SS for this wonderful gift.
