I = love black paper and learned even more about it when I signed up for = Stargazer's Balck paper swap :) So this is a black card (love this = paper, what is it called???), and on the front there's a lovely fairy = stamped on white paper, then embossed in black and colored in with = markers ? and embellished with glitter! The coloring is soooo = lovely!!!! Below this fairy the words Thinking of you stamped in blue! = This white paper was cut around with Fiskars Colonial I guess! I like the fact that it stays right with the card, not to be lost in the massive piles of paper all over my stamping area. It can't get lost then in the sorting process that the hostess has to do. It is there forever (or until you burn my card because you are tired of looking at it!). I assume that the primary purposes of the swap cards is learning different techniques and seeing MORE stamps and products --- but also they serve as a reference long after the swap is over. Sending the cards to friends doesn't even enter the picture for me - NOBODY is getting my swap cards!! If the consensus were to go to post-it notes or something similar, I would. The stamp credits can go on a separate peice of paper and slipped inside the card so other RS can see the info, but if someone wants to reuse the card it's not permanently written on. I'll tell you something else you haven't learned yet... in every swap you participate in, you're ALWAYS going to get back stuff that's way better than yours. And you'll always get back stuff that is not as good as yours. The several "newbie" swaps are great to join for getting your confidence up, but if a theme catches your interest, join those too. Those are my favorites, to see how each person interprets a theme and to see all the different techniques sent back out. Or join one in a medium you really like or (even better) want to learn more about. The chalks swap, or watercolor swap, or Stampscapes swap ... those are real grounds for learning. Besides, yours can't be worse than the first ones I sent out. Only Frank thought they were great, and he's a champ at praising whatever I make. Hmmm... I think making and sending a friend card to him today is definitely on my agenda. I didn't even consider the fabric swap, I felt that was way out of my league. So you're already three steps ahead of me for doing it. And I'll still bet you even odds that when you get the swap back, there will be at least one submission you think yours was at least equal to and maybe better than. ========================================================================= Janet Detter Margul | Real women don't have hot flashes...
