I had a little card I had already stamped on with dye ink rainbow. I tap taptapped the first coat and heated. Then I coated again with embossing ink and (having no halographic powder) put on glitter ep. When that was cooked, I coated once more with the ink and covered with clear ep. Well, after 3 coats, I have a pretty image with embedded glitter which actually acts sort of like holographic, but there are lots of pits all over the card still and it feels a little oily. So, I've gone in a wiped another layer of embossing ink on it and coated once again with the clear ep and heated it up again. This time I kept it hot while all the ep actually bubbled like it was boiling and the paper was starting to smoke. I think the layers below were remelting again. Well anyway, it now has many fewer (but still some) pits in it and it's not oily any more either. But some seems to have melted itself through to be back of the card as well as the front. I guess I'm not doing something right. A little later: Well, got to thinking about this, and decided to try again. So I stamped up another card and had at it. I think I figured out what I did wrong the first time. I used TOO MUCH embossing ink. This time I used a VERY VERY thin coat each time and it worked perfectly and I got just exactly what I thought I should have gotten after reading the original description. I wasn't working with an embossing ink pad. I had squeezed the EI directly onto a sponge, and it was pretty thick and gooey. By tonight it had soaked into the sponge more and so went on in a much thinner coat, and therefore, the powder melted smoothly as it is supposed to do. Anyway, this effect is SPECTACULAR. It realy looks like the glitter is suspended in the middle of the embossed image. Very 3D-ish. I wonder if we tried this technique on clear heat resistant acrylic sheets we might make our own 3D-vinyl sheets. A thought. I don't have any of that kind of acryllic right now. Anyone want to try it? StamPatti, vsa & vsr Computers are life. Rubberstamping is art. It was the night of the employee Christmas party. I had just gotten off my shift working America Sings (they have "management" run the attractions, with guidance of course from a few experienced hourlies, so that the regular employees can enjoy the Park with their families). Anyway, I went to meet a friend at the dock, and she told me "someone said John's been shot." We went backstage in Frontierland, to the office up above the Riverbelle Terrace restaurant. We passed a few employees, crying. Up in the office, one of the leads was listening to the radio. He looked at us as we came in. "It's true," he said. "Some loony shot John." We couldn't stay. The magic had gone out of the kingdom that night. All the way home I listened to the radio. Every station was playing Lennon songs. It really was the end of an era. But...the music lives on. I solved my problem with plastic bags from 1x2 inches up to the sandwich size. I put the stamp mounted on the HALO backing in a plastic bag just a little bigger than the stamp along with a piece of paper about the same size that has been stamped with the image (and sometimes colored.). This wasn't an orginial idea. I received some unmounteds from Ellen at Evolving Images with a catalog order one time and this is how she sent them. (in the bag, I mean, not mounted.) And I just keep them in the appropriate drawer with my mounted stamps which are stored by category. Hi- I think most of us feel lonely a lot more than we admit. People think that I'm showered with friends and while its true that I have friends, only a few live near me. This means I often am home alone, with my cats, with no one to "play" with. However, here's what I've learned. 1-"Play" on the internet... some of my best friends live in my mailbox, as someone said recently. 2- Have crafts, stamping, or whatever to keep you busy. The more you stamp, in particular doing swaps, the more people you meet. If you have time, read the TANS and answer them. The stamping posts are wonderfully helpful, but the friendships come more from the TAN posts. 3-I've had to change the definition of friendship. I used to think friends were the people next door, or in my town, who I could call several times a week, go out to dinner with, etc. Now I think that friends are those people who know me and care about me, wherever they live. And most of them DON"T live near me. I now LOVE going out to dinner with a good book; its so relaxing for me that even if I see people I know who invite me to join them, I'd rather eat and read. Weird, huh? Anyway, write whenever you wanna'...I'm ALWAYS glad to get mail and I love to answer. Jody MorrCatsNRubbr At 4:50 PM 2/28/97, Inky Pinkiedo wrote: >Hi, >I am a very lonely sole.
