At value village I've found: magazines to cut up for collage images, clear glass plates to decoupage, a shirt I bought for 60 cents just so I could cut the funky buttons off it, jewelry to take apart for charms (although gargage sales are better for tis, the jewelry there is usually 25 or 50 cents, but at Value Village it's $1 or $2 or more!) Another background tip: Crayola has a set of 8 "color changing" crayons...they have tiny bits of wax in 3 or 4 colors in one crayon, so you get all the colors when you crayon with them. These make great backgrounds!! That particular kind of crayon is hard to find though. A stippler brush is a brush that lets you do this. You can buy official "stippling brushes" (Toybox and others sell them) or stenciling brushes work too. My cheap way to do this technique was to pick up a pack of assorted "toddler" brushes at the dollar store, these are chubbier el cheapo paintbrushes. The largest one works great for stippling. I just tap it on a dye ink pad then dot, dot, dot it on my page. Mixing colors works well sometimes too...I like to dot on some purple and then some blue, for example. > hidden embossing Beats me. > postoids Postoids are rubber stamps that look like real postage stamps. YOu can find tons of these...they are either reproductions of oldpostage stamps or totally fake postage. They are fun to decorate envelopes with (sometiems I even put them on my bills! As long as there is enough real postage in there, the PO doesn't care. They are also good collage elements on a card. You can also make your own...several companies make stamp "frames" in a variety of sizes, you can stamp these and then fill them with other stamps you own. Just to keep things interesting, this term is sometimes used interchangably with "artistamps" which is something from mail art, mainly. These are stamps that mail artists design, they look roughly like real postage (sometimes very close to real postage, but the idea isn't it counterfeit), and they are usually printed on paper to be cut up and stuck on things, like sticker paper. > Hope this helps, let me know if I've muddied the water or made it clearer :) Katchoo This message was from Katina Choovanski - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. They made a glue and water mixture - thin soup. They painted with this mixture on a small area and placed a piece of torn tissue paper then another overlapping only same colors. Paint each few pieces of same color with glue mixture. Changing colors don't overlap for this will bleed. Place them right next to the other color. This looks like stained glass. You will have to wait for it to dry! I guess I shall go try this! Super Bowl Ticket A guy named Bob receives a free ticket to the Super Bowl from his company. Unfortunately, when Bob arrives at the stadium he realizes the seat is in the last row in the corner of the stadium - he's closer to the Goodyear blimp than the field. About halfway through the first quarter, Bob notices an empty seat 10 rows off the field, right on the 50 yard line. He decides to take a chance and makes his way through the stadium and around the security guards to the empty seat. As he sits down, he asks the gentleman sitting next to him, "Excuse me, is anyone sitting here?" The man says no. Now, very excited to be in such a great seat for the game, Bob again inquires of the man next to him, "This is incredible! Who in their right mind would have a seat like this at the SuperBowl and not use it?" The man replies, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me, I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we haven't been together at since we got married in 1967." "Well, that's really sad," says Bob, "but still, couldn't you find someone to take the seat? A relative or close friend?" "No," the man replies, "they're all at the funeral." You need to make a card using only their stamps and submit it to them. Best design wins $100 in free stamps. The neat thing is that there will also be a random drawing of all who enter so every one has a second chance to win $100 in stamps!. For contest rules see They will be using the cards entered in the contest to create a gallery. This is neat. I was thinking of hosting a swap with their images but this is better because everyone can see all the cards. If you need any of their ums to complete your card, let me know. I may have them in stock. Karen Harris This message was from Karen Harris - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum.
