This past October, I recieved a letter from a woman through Somerset Studio. For those of you who may be newer to the list, our infant son, Jacob, died March of 1996. In the premier issue of Somerset Studio, they published an essay by me about Jacob. They called me and asked me to write it after seeing Jacob's birth/death announcement that I stamped. Anyway, this woman, Lynette Rhymes, wrote to me because she said she had no one else to turn to. You see, like us, she found out, while pregnant, that her baby had a fatal chromosomal defect and was going to die. I was so incredibly touched that she would write to me, and so very saddened when I called her and heard her story. I just recieved a card from her in the mail today. They named their baby Jacob also. Jacob Alexander. He was born and died December 29. Anyway, I am writing to you all to ask for some of that wonderful outpouring of warmth, compassion, and love that you all showed to us when our Jacob died. The cards were so touching and beautiful, and we have kept every single one. Lynette and her family have even less support than we did. Would you all please send them a card to show that others do care during such a sad and heartbreaking time. Help them to know that they are thought of. E-mail me for the address, and I want to thank y'all in advance. These have certainly brightened a very sad time in our lives and I truly apreciate it. I have never received so much exciting mail in a day. I am new to describing my cards but will attempt to do my best, but no description can really do them justice as they are all soooooo nice! I was Rakd by Dianna Knapp the Rak list keeper , with the cute little stamp convention pin /flying pig in the clouds which say's a little stamp.. a little ink... ah! a little slice of heaven I think! and 4 Rak stickers Thanks Dianna!!!! I was Raked by the Anonymous Raker with a wonderful Fiskars Corrugator, (How exciting) iIve been corrugating almost verything in site, I don't understand though the cats won't let me near them this afternoon.(Ha! Ha!) also a very cute snowman stamp and a beautiful used swap card (Tropical Beach scene) with a palm tree, sunset, and embossed seashells originally created by Barcley- Rubberhubs@aol.com Yes, Anonymous Raker I will respect your wishes , I really apreciate this!!!! May God Bless You! I was rakd by Kathleen McCaffrey, she sent me an envy made from a calendar page(great idea) with an adorably cute little house mouse card inside. (I think) The image is of a mouse holding a lg. mirror up (all shiny and Glittery)and on the other side is another mouse wearing red lipstick, holing a much too large tube of Red Lipstick looking in the mirror. On the inside are the words Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. across the top of the card front was a pretty piece of white/ gold edged lace. I Love the card it is great!1 I even collected mice for awile, now I know I'll have to buy some mice stamps! Thanks kathleen!!! Toni Brentlinger sent me one too, and Toni it's so cute I can't hardly believe it was your first Rak card sent. in the center of a red plaid background (is this stamped background?) is a cute little brown bear with the words -- Let's be Teddy bears in our next life... Everbody Loves 'em nobody cares if they're fat & the older they get the more they're worth, In the top left corner is a pretty red bow with a button in the center of it. and she added some pretty red heart confetti. Thanks so much Toni!!! I was also Rakd by Linda Isreal, This was a very nice card too! It gave me another heart idea. For a background I believe she used a word print From the Heart on pink paper, and in the center she put a nice piece of purple paper (What type I don't know) and put 2 hearts / one in Red and one in Pink raised up with foam board I think , and a Rak delivery Post stamped inside. Thankyou too. Linda, I really apreciate this card. To all of you Thank You, this really touched my heart in a way I can't even expalin. and I can't hardly wait to start sending Raks to others. Hello stampin buddies!! man, after a week like i had last week, i had better get busy RAKing. i haven't looked so forward to getting mail since i was little and it was the week of my birthday!! I have had kind of a stressful holiday season due to my kids having the chicken pox and me doing some self-evaluating. I have decided to make some changes in my life. i am going to try to be a more positive person and focus on what i have and on other's good qualities. for a while i was feeling so negative about everything including my church, myself, my way of doing things, and i had pulled away from alot of my Christian friends and activities. I had a positive week last week and decided to just get my life back on the positive track again. I went to a church sleepover "for the gals" and rekindled a few friendships i had let go astray. Let me tell you, it felt so good to admit that i was sorry and just to humble myself before them and God. Anyway, to top this off, i had a wonderful mail week!! And it's still coming.... I got several RAK's. GLORIA ALEXANDER: she embossed a beautiful morning glory in violet onto heavy vellum and layered this onto matching violet cs. very, very, very pretty card. thanks. is it a PSX botanical? loved it. KALICOKATHY: she used the housemouse stamps and did the little mouse putting on lipstick in the mirror and made a little curtain across the top with red lace. very cute. hubby liked this one too. (i got two of these. i feel so special. the other one was just the same but you used pind instead of red. you must have sent out alot of them and got my name 2 times. i'll probably recycle one of them so someone else can see this and smile.) thanks. LINDA ISREAL: she layered hot pink cs with "from the heart" (in computer graphics?) repeated for background paper onto white cs and on the pink she layered a peice of purple mulberry paper and on top of this she layered 2 hearts that it looks like were laminated. pretty card. thanks for my first valentine of the year!! i need the R.A.K. delivery stamp you used on the inside of the card. where did you get it? thanks for thinking of me. KELLY HAGA: dear sweet kel, thanks for this beautiful card!! i can't tell what you used to color it and it's driving me mad!!! have to meet you in evo's room to find out. anyway...she used a sunflower stamp and masked it onto white cs then cut out around the petals of the images closest to the fold of the card. then she folded back the card and on the inside of the card she put down blue denim paper. i love this idea and the card is too much!! i NEED this paper. thanks. let me know how you colored this card okay? hubby also liked this one. NICKY the FAIRY STAMPER: she stamped a soft looking card using pink marbled cs. she layered cream cs then pink mulberry and then she layered roses cut out and colored she added a twine bow and used deco. scissors. very soft and elegant card. i really liked the romantic mood of this card. thanks so much. DIANNA KNAPP: she made me a card with a convention pin on it using a little heart stamp and made into a wreath. it is laminated and very cute. i love it. i'm going to make it into a magnet for my fridge. thanks for my first ever convention pin!! (magnet) i love it. thanks for thinking of me. well, i might have left someone out. i really had a great mail week and might have misplaced a card or two. (me? no way!!!) so anyway, if you RAK'd me and i didn't mention you, please feel free to flame away. i deserve it because no doubt, you made me feel so wonderful and special, you deserve some recognition. Does anyone know what happened to his company? Does anyone still sell his stamps? I would really be interested in getting some of his stamps. What little I've seen of his artwork has been really beautiful. I find the best way to use them is to lay a little stack of them on a tray (meat tray) and dab them off after use, then dry off on a towel. Does the printer have a special method of dealing with envelopes? On some you can move something or other and feed the heavier stock in through the back, individually. That's what I had to do for postcards and booklet covers.
