You listening? From my perspective (rural northern New Brunswick, Canada - - remote enough, but we do get American TV ....), I'd just like to say to you and Hillary ("Hi" to Chelsea), that no where else on earth (except maybe Canada) could your name be so bandied about, toasted, roasted, smugged and hugged. and we haven't even *begun* to hear what we all think of HIllary's wardrobe .... bit pricey for my resources, but am I upset. No, I think she looks terrific. Democracy .... ain't it wonderful!! We can be judge and jury over our duly elected leaders, we can tear them down, build 'em up, drag on 'em, brag on 'em. We can ... that's democracy ... and an umoderated rubber stampers e-mail list. BTW, Mr. President, there's a r/s convention going on in Dallas, and y'know, I'd really *love* to be an ambassador for Canada to this auspicious occasion . maybe if I had an official Presidential invitation, I could get a travel grant from the Canadian government .... to promote international rubber relations .... With the stresses and strains of your job, it must be quite a chore to find time to relax ... though I did see your pix in one of the mags at the newsstand ... and yeah, I liked the photo of you in swimtrunks. And, while Hillary isn't exactly thunder thighs ... she appears quite normal in a swimsuit. I was thinking, though ... I have lotsa um's left from grab bag purchases, and if you'd like, I could mount up some of these ... you could keep these and a few ink pads right in the drawer of your desk in the Oval Office, and when you find yourself with a few spare minutes ... why you could just stamp, stamp, stamp ... all over the nasty things they're saying about you. Hang in Mr. President - you can't be all that bad; after all, you were elected. Ant Judy H. P.S. Mr. President ........ You can't even leave a message on someone's machine regarding money they owe other than to say who you are and where you're calling from. It's a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act to do anything more. This would include e-mailing someone privately and telling them someone owed you money. The law is pretty strict but I don't know how one would follow through and sue someone, but it's there to protect the person owing the money just as there are laws to protect those who don't receive payment for goods or services. In this type of situation though a vendor has little recourse since you would need to go to small claims court in the county the person who owed you money lived in - everyone here is so spread out. NOW PERSONALLY - I think other vendors on the list should know who doesn't pay for stuff they order. I also would like to know what vendors don't make good on their offers. I have gotten lucky so far and been very pleased with the vendors I have dealt with - Karen Harris, Wenonah, Ruth Gigliotti, Lorri, Linda and Melanie. I also have paid for everything I have received. Just my two cents worth. Michele Bergh This message was from Michele Bergh - -- The rubberstampers mailing list is proudly sponsored by the Dueling Modems Arts & Crafts Forum. When you are driving in foreign countries you need to know so they should have copies available for people who are going there. Or write to Diana or call her and ask if she can get some in Canada. I am sure at first chance they will run our names through the mill but we can't do anything about it. Upsetting.<< I've heard from another vendor that at least one of the "stubborn and onry" customers is an active and respected list member. We just never know what goes on behind the scenes, eh? I live in an area that is totally remote from any rubber stamping (Atlantic Canada's only stamp store is 300 miles from me) .... and so I'm very much dependent on the list vendors ...and I think I'd spend around $150/month (Canadaian ... that would be about $210 US) on rubber stamping related *stuff*. The point being that if customers don't pay their obligations to list vendors, do you think list vendors are going to stick around? The profit margin isn't so great that the vendors can comfortably absorb the losses of customers who don't pay ...and they shouldn't be expected to. And I'll tell you one thing .... if a list vendor named those non-paying customers to me, I'd have no compunctions about telling them to pay up ... privately *or* publicly. It seems that there are a few customers hiding behind the "legalese" of being publicly named ... and that is nothing short of dishonourable. If you owe a legitimate debt to a vendor on this list or to any business for that matter, and you've come by hard times, the world is not all bad. You might try working out an arrangement with your creditor, whereby you pay a little at a time, until the debt is cancelled. Remember ... if you owe someone money ... it's because they **trusted** you. Customers that *do* pay promptly and responsibly ....... my hat's off to you; the world's a better place because you're in it. Ant Judy H.
