I wish you could see thelovely bouquet of rosebuds I received. All wrapped in colorful cellophane and wonderful foil. I had to look closer and they are actually candy buds. They are small wrapped candies wrapped with florist tape onto florist wire. So clever. I also received a stencil like I've never seen before. It looks like if you linedthe stencil on the fold you would come out with perfect hearts, circles, ovals and stars. Is this correct? It will also do well for sponging backgrounds. Also got a blue glitter gluestick. Have I just not gotten out lately? I haven't seen any of this before (or after LOL) . 10 oversize duplex cards in blazer blue and white from Fran the Frantic Stamper, a gorgeous piece of handmade paper with petals and leaves pressed in, a great stenciling kit - I'm really intrigued by this, I want to stamp my walls in my rubber room (if I could get close enough to them). I know this will happen this weekend. Last but not least!!!!! A Book by Paper Pizazz - holiday and season papers. These are great. Wonderful backgrounds and the sheets are all 8 1/2 x 11 so there's plenty for backgrounds as well as for scrapbooking which is my other great love. Thank you SSS. You are very generous and I will use and enjoy every single item in this jam packed box!!!!! Weilert) Subject: Re: RS: convention in puyallup-pins Hmmm, pin ideas. Rubbernecker (which Dawn of Golden Sunrise sells- sunrise@wolfenet.comm) has these stamp sets that make cute pins. For example, there's a barn, then 4 silly animals. You can stamp them on paper (or Sculptey or Paperclay), punch holes to attach them, and then attch the animals to the barn with jump rings or a tacker thing, kind of like the things they attach price tags with, only shorter. You really need to see some pins to get a better idea what I mean. I think the key to great pins is some sort of mixed media or motion. Moving parts are a hit, as are embellishments, such as a fabric bow on you paperclay teddy bear pin, etc. Look at your stamps, figure what would be cute enough for people to want to wear, and what you can do to make yours special. It's not necessary to spend big bucks on pin backs; just get some strapping tape and safety pins, and attach those safety pins to the back of your creations with the strapping tape. Oh, and you want to make lots of pins for Puyallup; at least 150, I'd say. It's a big, busy show! Good luck! If you'd like someone to bounce pin ideas off of, I'd be happy to be your sounding board. Also, if you have web access, check out the rubberstamping sites; some have pin examples on there! Daisies, Meridee Stamp With Me! merideestamps@juno.com I sell Stamping Sensations and HALOS! Wenonah and Dawn both go the extra mile to make sure that they understand what I have ordered and to let me know the status. I prefer both of them to keep my CC# on file so I can send an order for something I need quickly or a response to a great sale without having to repeatedly send me CC# by email. I trust them far more than some store clerks that may have access to my # when I charge. It's a convenience to me, but I try to always specify to please use that # when I email the order in since it's easiest for both of us to know the terms of the order. Dawn has saved me money by asking whether I need a part of the order that is available to be sent immediately or save postage by waiting for the other parts on order. I really like that she never just assumes she knows what I want, but gives me a choice - I got that last order and am pleased as always, Dawn. Wenonah, I sure appreciate that you make it easy to order and it sure works to your advantage, too. Probably best to ask when you first get a customer's CC # whether they want you to keep it for their convenience and let them know to tell you when ordering how they want to pay. It's getting harder to post all the good vendors I've done business with on the list since the list is getting very long and hard NOT to forget some of the good ones. I've been very happy with every vendor I've bought from on the list and am willing to give recommendations for lots of them. We all find this distressing, and the sight of perfectly healthy people WITHOUT special tags parking in the handicapped spots is irksome to everyone who respects the restrictions on these spaces and leaves them vacant for those who need them. Eileen deMars (fligmapoof@juno.com) Eileen made a round card. What scissors did you use on the edge? I need some like that! On top of the red cardstock, Eileen layered some red homemade paper with gold strands and gold glitter in it. Over that is a piece of gold cardstock that has been corrugated. The cs is shaped kind of like a lightening bolt. Over this is a white heart of vellum that has been corrugated both ways. All this was tied on with a piece of red ribbon and a gold cord. Inside was embossed in white the sentiment "Love One Another" (Uhry's Temple Stamps). Lovely card! GloMom- no email given- GloMom began with a piece of rose colored columns cardstock OVer this was layered a piece of pink marbled cs with fancy corners. A plaid ribbon is in the upper lefthand corner. Layered over the pink cardstock was a piece of pink corrugated lace paper, a pale pink corrugated paper with gold spots, and a piece of mulberry paper. On white cardstock, embossed in pink is an umbrella full of heart, and an angel with hearts. Inside the card is somemore of the pink cardstock with fancy corners and the words Be My Valentine embossed in pink. Very Elegant! Pam Macvittie-(foxtee@concentric.net) Pam began with white glossy cardstock. Embossed in gold in the upper left and bottom right corners was a fancy stamp corner by All Night Media. The detail were colored in. A red doily was placed in the middle of the card, with a heart (PSX) embossed in gold on pink cardstock was placed over the doily. In the middle of the pink heart is a white ribbon with a ribbon rose. Did you make this rose yourself? Very Elegant!! Patty Tupper (c/o jjdemore@techline) Patty used a piece of white matte card to begin her card. She sponged some lavender onto the front. In the middle of the card is a jar (Stampin' Up). She cut out the jar top a second time, and put a piece of red gingham cloth sticking out from underneath it. Red rickrack is placed around the edge of the jar top to look like a ribbon. A little For You tag is placed on the jar. The bottom 1/2 inch of the card was cut off so you can see the back part of the card which has Happy Valentine's Day (Doubleday Book Club) stamped along the bottom. The jar is filled with red and pink hearts. I like this card, especially the 3D look! Lori Croswell (LRCroswell@aol.com) made an envelope for her card out of wall paper. It compliments the card perfectly! Using burgandy cardstock, Lori Embossed in gold a heart shaped door. Little paw prints lead up to the door. A gold ribbon is glued to the top center of the card. The doors open up to reveal the inside of the card. Embossed in gold on the inside of the card is a bear holding a heart that says, "You're beary special" Lori wrote a note with all the pertinant infor on it, but it got lost when I was showing the cards to a friend of mine. I loved the card! Last but not least, Robin Cramer (missy@ctaz.com), our illustrious host sent a card. It begins with a Giant pink doily. A heart shaped pink cardtock card is glued to the doily. On top of the card is layered some rose background paper. Some pink crinkled streamers are next, and are held onto the card by a cupid riding a stork stamped and colored in on white cardstock. Inside the card is stamped in gold, "Happy Valentine's Day (Stamping Up) . I love this card! Thanks Robin for being such a prompt hostess. I didn't find the little goodies until I was showing the cards to my friend. Everyone did a great job!!! UGH what if they don't like them. What if they think my technique is childish. OHHH self-doubt. I always read the wonderful descriptions of the other cards people are getting. And now I wonder how these people might describe my poor simple things. Well I can already hear the "its the thought that counts" Hmm must be all my Catholic guilt rearing its ugly head. Thanks for letting me vent my fears. Going on a whole week on the list and I LOVE it. But I am bound and determined to RAK more folks AND to join a swap!!! BARBARA hey I need a nickname any ideas???? Is it as bad or is it worse that many of us *know* of people who abuse the use of the special tags? i.e. By parking in the spaces when the disabled person will neither be entering nor leaving the vehicle. If the disabled person stays in the vehicle, it's legal enough, but I consider it to be an abuse of the priviledge ... others might need the space more. i.e. I know of one case where the driver continued to use the handicapped space after the handicapped person had *died* and the tags had expired, carefully putting a mud spatter over the expiration date. Verbal hassling is rude and crude ... quietly calling the police puts it on the line.
