I just wanted to spread the word about a little stamping store in the cute tourist town of Nashville, Indiana (about an hour south of Indianapolis). My parents live about 20 minutes away from this quaint little town and when we go to visit, I always go just to mill around the shops. Well, this past summer, I discovered a little stamp shop called High Hopes. At Christmas, we went to visit my parents again and it was still there and I told them I would be telling people about them! It is somewhat small, but they carry a nice variety of stamps and accessories. The people who own/work at the shop are very friendly and very helpful in showing how to use different tools/products. Anyway, if you're ever in the area you might check it out! I was thrilled to find a stamp store in such a remote area! It helped ease the pain of being away from home and away from all my stamping stuff (I didn't have room in the van, what with 3 kids, a husband, and ice chest and a TON of Christmas presents!). Today I tried using HOT GLUE (clear) to draw squiggles on a cardboard tile and then used UEP over it--the glue melts slower than the EP..you could build up several layers and still have little raised lines from the glue to use pearl-x, or rub-n-buff, etc to highlight. Also---I put twine on the square-using hot glue to draw over it-sort of covering most of the twine, and proceeded to add more layers of ultra ep to that--neat and if you use a more opaque EP with the UEP, you can cover up the twine if you like - tho I like seeing it "inside" :) Also--if you don't like the look the glue will eventually melt into the EP and disapear...now what would glitter hot glue do? hmmmmmm Off to go melt some more cool stuff :)) Did any of your kids get Sand Art kits for xmas?????? Are there any web sites with "sticker use" pictures? I often see all sorts of neat stickers, but have hesitated buying them because I'm not quite sure about how to integrate them into my stamping. Typically I do "elegant collage" and layering style stamping, with a liberal use of foam mounting tape and other embellishments. Feathers, raffia, fancy papers etc... I usually let the paper and EP "speak for itself" and avoid much detailed coloring... if I do need some color, generally I'll use my watercolor pencils. So far it seems as if the stickers I've bought, while they're often georgous and go well together, they stick out like a sore thumb with the rest of my art. It's the Fiskars Personal Paper Trimmer, my husband got it for me last Christmas (probably the best non-jewelry gift he's ever picked out on his own!!). It has a little blade that runs in a groove, and you line up where you want your cardstock trimmed, and slide the blade down. I've used it on cardstock, wallpaper, photos, etc. I've seen them priced anywhere from $8.00 to $13.00. Hope this helps! Glad to hear he's ok, but I'm sure there's alot to be concerned about since he's still in serious cond. Maybe you could update us at RT on his cond. as it improves. I'm sure no one would object to the TAN; in fact, we would welcome it. We'll all be thinking of you! She used the stencil randomly over the front of the card....embossing some and coloring others. 2.From Cindy Mcvay: A Noel stencil embossed and then colored in red and green. She then cut it out and mounted it on red cardstock. She then corrugated a piece of green cardstock. She then mounted both of these on the front of the card....along with another piece of Christmasy paper and a red bow. 3.From Amy (amym@crslink.net): An embossed, framed snowman colored and with a background of blue snowflakes. 4.From Ria Vaneman: An embossed Santa with a litle bit of accent coloring. On the inside she has affixed a doily and a class-apeels sticker(bells) and mounted a small piece of decoratively cut cardstock stamped with the words "Merry Christmas." 5. From Jaimee Givens: An embossed Frog......which happens to be the SAME stencil I used for this swap........but with very different results. She embossed on white cardstock and then colored the image and ripped the edges. She then mounted the frog and a piece of green mulberry on marbled green paper and added some embossed leaves for accent. Thanks for hosting Jaimee! LOVE that place. I'm just outside of Cincinnati, so it's close by. Haven't been there in years. Now another reason to go back!!! Thanks so much for the info and reminding me of some good memories!
