You can also go the the links list and see first hand what type of stamps the companies carry if they have a web site. The ones marked with a red check mark have on-line catalogs. The URL is http://littlebit.com/rubber1.htm. Unfortunately the page is down right now but I bet will be up in a day or two. It is worth it to wait and check these out. Another way to get a little bit of an idea what companies make is to get a Rubberstampmadness magazine. It is full of company ads which have lots of samples. Hope this helps. Happy Stamping! My SST sent me belated birthday wishes (which was about a week ago) which I thought was really sweet of her. In the package (all filled with paper confetti) was a wonderful collage card which I loved. On a blue cardstock, my SST glued some specialty brown and burgundy paper strips diagonally across the card. In the top left corner, she glued some gumnuts and on the bottom right corner, she glued a tiny shell. She had some Australian stamps on there as well and on the centre of the card, my SST glued on a layer of corrugated card, with a ticket stub on top and a shell on the stub. It's a great card, SST. And my SST also sent me a small little cane basket all filled with lovely handmade chocolates and truffles (and a white chocolate mouse which is so cute that it seems a pity to eat it - but I'll force myself LOL) I'm savouring them at the moment trying to make them last - yummy! Thank you SST - you really made my day :) I'm so glad you are my SST - anyone who sends me chocolates for my birthday is fantastic in my book! The Rubber Down Under (RDU) convention will be fantastic and it'll be a great opportunity to learn new things and make new friends. If there are any Aussie stampers on the lists who will be attending the RDU, I thought it will be great to have dinner together on Saturday night (Feb 21). People are welcomed to bring along their non-list friends or significant other. I haven't quite decided on the venue yet. There is a Keg Restaurant about 5 minutes away from the convention centre (on Springvale Road in Nunawading) and unless someone violently objects, that's probably going to be the venue. I thought we could meet around 7:30pm and have a really great time sharing all that we learnt from the convention that day (and make each other jealous with all the purchases we made - LOL). So if you are interested, please E-mail me no later than next Friday (Feb 13) so I can make the necessary bookings. Thanks. I am late on doing this description of the pkg. but with all going on here with my dad I just couldn't get to it. This was so wonderful and it came at such a great time for me. The pkg. was, however, mashed on one end, and wet. (this was taken to the USPS and left so the complaint with the carrier could me made.) Much paper was wet and I couldn't tell the designs on the tissue papers but they were red from what I could see. Nothing was destroyed so that is great right there. First off - a lovely rectangular shaped box, with attached cover and lovely old timey pictures of a young girl with hat and pretty white and red figured dress. Maybe roller skates on her feet. Flowers, birds, beautiful hotels, other figures gorgeous borders all in wonderful blues, pinks, off whites, blacks and other colors. So beautiful. Another box - how I love these. It is round, cushion top, white fabric and cover comes off. Stamp able - so will work on that when I get back to normal here. A roll of Scotch, double stick tape. I have never used this so will test it out soon. A good sized canvas tote bag for stamping. I did one of these at a show in CA and had such fun but haven't the foggiest idea where it is. So, now I have one to replace it. Are you psychic? A .53 ox container of ultra fine, soft lavender glitter and it is so lovely. Lavender is a great shade - love it. Two stamps - to and from and another with the saying: Being Friends ...think of the money we've saved on analysts! Another psychic moment - A store owner up the street has had some problems which we have discussed. I kept telling her she didn't need a "shrink" that I wouldn't charge her and we could "talk". We talked, I didn't charge and she went to the "shrink" anyway. "Shrink" told her same thing I did. How about that. A pkg. of Die - cut pop - up cards. These are flip ups and I have never done these. Can't wait to try this out. AND, I love Sisters, Oregon which is where these are from. Maybe one day I will get there again. A set of various sized, heart shaped stickers - wonderful bird, rose, saying, and color designs. How fun these will be. Pkg. of foil paper squares and I love to work with these with my Pooh and other punches. Pkg. of Japanese color cords with gorgeous muted, pastel colors of pinks, blues, greens and teal. How my eyes and brain co-exist so wonderfully with colors such as these. Makes me think I can do anything. Cards: How clever you are. I envy you in your creation of these - I don't create well but I sure do a god and love them. CUTE, cute stamp on small, glossy card stock - four sets of men's boxer briefs in various colors and under that saying in colors: Just a brief note. Another done with top fold on light lavender cs with ripple(?) scissor cut. On top, 5 layered, long hearts on dark lavender or purple paper embossed with (iridescent) ep. How gorgeous. One more - white cs with side fold. Next layer black cs, next is red cs with stars punched on top and bottom and final paper is black and white each side, one side trimmed with scissor again, saying embossed over this: Whatever you can Dream you can stamp. White side embossed with shiny black ep and black side embossed with white, shiny ep. Several sheets of papers stamped with designs of sunface, peacock feather and whatever the red was on the tissue papers. (I have these stamps here and use them in demos - use the sun a lot. AND, the psychic wonder did it again - but how could you have known I would need these at this very moment. I will eat every one of the wonderful Whitman's Sampler chocolates in that famous yellow box down in the bottom of the carton. And, I will love every bite. Chocolates have that wonderful "stuff" that makes you feel so good and right now I surely could use the feel good time again. And, the box is just teeny, tiny, so won't overdose or have an insulin attack or even gain any weight from it. Thanks so much for that as I would have done myself in if there were anymore chocolates. My, how you have outdone yourself and I thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. It came at just the right time. And, for what it is worth - just because I happen to have a stamp store doesn't mean I have everything in here - quite the opposite as everything you sent (outside of the chocolates) I didn't have (have some glitters here but not this brand) and it was so nice to see new and different items. That was such a nice surprise. I am way to new to join any of these as of yet ... but would love to get the instructions on how to make some of these great cards. Being so new at this.. I am kinda overwhelmed and don't know where to being..any help that anyone can offer would be soooooo great ! Thanks Karen - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Feb 1998 09:35:50 -0600 From: Shannon Green Subject: RubberTown: RAKs and Birthday Stuff >Thank you to everyone who sent me birthday wishes yesterday, you all really made my day. I really don't ever get depressed but this one day a year usually does me in! > >I want to thank Susan CoffeeStamper, Victoria Flaherty, Brenda Volpe, and my sweet SS for the virtual balloons, cards and flowers. > >While I was out of town, the hubby helped my daughter stamp a card for me. She knows she can use any of my stamps she wants to and she chose a row of buildings, some trees, a tiger, an alien lady, a moonscape, an elephant, a crowd of people, a unicorn, some sand, and an alien creature for my card. These were done with Marvys in case you're interested in her technique ;) > >I also received a beautiful card from Leilani Schooling with a heart on the front that has a cut out area with netting and pot pourri in it. Very elegant. She also sent a really neat laminated bookmark. (I will be happy to pass the FB along). > >Sue Lingafelter did a soot card (I think) with a big Magenta looking scene on the front, unbelieveably gorgeous as usual. Inside the message says: > >On this day, I hope your hair turns out exactly the way you want it to. I hope a total stranger asks you for your autograph and then apologizes for mistaking you for a gorgeous movie star. I hope someone at work says "You look fabulous..." I hope a letter arrives from one of those mail order contests that says "You've Won!" And I hope for every other wonderful thing for you to make this your Happiest of Happy Birthdays. > >Then a famous card from Susan CoffeeStamper that has a wallpaper background and a tea cup, or probably coffee cup, stamped and mounted on top. A real card and a virtual card...could you be any more thoughtful??? I don't think so. > >Then I got the neatest thing from Judy Dragonhome Perry. It was a small brown paper bag with designs printed on one side with an area for the addresses so you can mail it. I know, that didn't make any sense at all, you just have to see it it's so clever! Inside the bag she sent a really funny UM from LYTB and a magnet that says "You are a member in good standing of the Rubber Stamp Addicts Club." That one will have a prominent spot on the fridge, that's for sure! I just love this and the bag is too cool, Judy, thank you. > >At the convention, Melissa David hands me this stunning card done in greens and coppers with a sun stamped on the front, it looks like in Ultra Thick Enamel. There are 8 layers of cardstocks and papers on this card, all perfectly measured and evenly spaced and I'll never know how she does this. Do you have some kind of special paper cutter? Don't tell me you just measure and exacto because mine never turn out like this. And how did you do the copper paper that looks kind of swirly? Did it come that way or did you do it? I have to know. Inside the message says: > >Happy Birthday, Shannon! You're at that age when you begin to ask yourself the Big Questions. Where are we, as a society, going? What is life really about?!! Why did Mrs. Howell pack so many clothes for a 3-hour tour? > >I love this! An amazingly beautiful card with a goofy message on the inside! I'm humbled as usual, thank you Melissa. > >Then at the convention Stacia InkBlodgett bought me a Paula Best stamp of a dalmation (I have a real one) with wings and I just love it! I can already picture so many things to do with him, I just need to get busy doing them. And our friend Mary bought me a package of hand marbled collage papers from Skycraft Designs. Food for my paper fetish is a necessity. > >Thank you all again for making my day such a happy one. > >Shannon > > - - ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Feb 1998 11:07:01 -0500 From: "Victoria T. I know that lots of the rubberstamping magazines have themes each month and you can send in cards for possible publication. Is there any website where you can go to find out what the themes are and what the deadlines are for each month and publication? I would need a mailing address too. If not, would anyone be willing to forward me the info they have?
