Boy, is this fun stuff! My MIL had some white shelf liner that didn't look like much from the outside, but when you turned it over, it had all these neat ridges/patterns in it. First I took a light blue ink pad and dabbed that on it, then took an orchid pink one and did the same. Then I used my 'northern lights' ep and sprinked it on and heated it up - WOW! It looks like elegant ribbon! I also found some of the light blue shelf liner on sale at the hardware store, and put some darker blue and magenta inks on it, used clear ep -this was so pretty, too! Then, when I got the mail, Jhone Messinger had sent me a RAK, with some samples of other kinds of shelf liner! (Thanks, Jhone!) Perfect timing! So today I am going to play with those - she sent some tan (which I think will work great with copper and gold eps), burgandy, and some really different textured off-white samples. Now...who was doing the swap using shelf liner? I might just have to join this one! TRIBE Marcia, I apologize for being so late to acknowledge my TRIBE package. Some of us in CA are not dealing very well with so much rain. I know you are a sweet person, but telling me your were not currently on the list and giving me an "anon" address to send my replies was very, very sneaky! Clever, too. I might use it sometime. All your packages have been delightful, but you have no idea how much this wooden cat plaque has made me smile. We have had weeks and weeks of grey and rainy days and it is a pleasure to have this cute face looking back at me. I see it is meant to hang on the wall, but right now she sits on my desk and holds cards. It is not signed and I wondered if you painted her. Thank you so much. The super birthday greeting from Hero Arts is great! I had read a description, but not seen one. It has been used several times since its arrival and I know will be a stand by for years and years. The sweetheart candy was gone almost before I opened the box. I wore the shrink art hearts on my vest, along with several other heart pins, to work on Friday. I did not have a celadon pad or claret EP. Didn't know what I was missing. Thank you. The Reflection Sketcher made me laugh. I had a similar tool as a kid and seeing this one brought back many happy memories. I had't thought about it as a stamping tool but have used to to do some almost "free- hand" work. Works great! Now for the paper. I couldn't possibly describe all of it. I can use it all! I'v been working up some ideas for collages and discovered I need lots of different kinds of paper. I have very little wall paper and also handmade paper. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your House Mouse card decorates my desk at work and reminds me that spring is coming! Such a joyful little mouse throwing sunshine yellow petals all about. Very welcome. Violetnut, you were a wonderful TRIBE buddy and I have enjoyed every thing you sent. I can't thank you enough. Hi Lynette and all, I took the class at Stampa Rosa and they carried the ink there. It was in an inconspicuous place and if I hadn't taken the class, I wouldn't have ever known about how to use it. The images we used were outlined images and we colored them in. You probably could use bold images but with porous surfaces like clay pots or tiles, you have to go over it again to make the color stand out of a bold image. I forgot to mention in my first post that we used those felt circles with adhesive on one side underneath the tile so that it would not scratch the table. I personally would not use marbles on the kind of tiles we used cause I don't think even superglue would hold. The tiles we used are the size of stepping stones (maybe 12x12) and veeeerrrry heavy. The woman who taught the class said that you could use this technique for tiles on the wall as well. It isn't necessary to heat set the item unless you are going to eat off of it or if the item would get alot of wear. Also if you got tired of the design, you could take the design off. I like this technique on clay flower pots with the metallic ink. It's waycool!!!! As soon as I got to the top of the landing, I realized my mistake. The water had totally evaporated. Instead of smelling like a beautiful vanilla scent, my house now smelled liked burnt marshmallows. The smell continued for about 3 days. Moral of story, don't get too caught up in rubber stamping activities, could be dangerous to your health and pocketbook unless you're willing to take risks.
