There was only one rule- the swappers had to use stamps that they received for Christmas. It was fun to see all the different techinique and stamps involved. It got such a great response, I will be doing this swap as an annual swap. This gave both new and "old" stampers a chance to do their thing! Everyone did a great job, thanks very much! Abreviations: CS - cardstock CP - corner punch V - vellum FS - fancy scissors EP - embossing powder FP - felt pens GP - glossy paper PC - pencil crayons BGP - background paper WC - watercolor MP - mulberry paper AIG - Art Institute Glitter Kim Albert: This cute card is made on cream CS. The front is stamped with a little bear family sitting with a picnic basket. The image is brightly colored with FP. Above them are 2 butterflies. These are colored with Fp and detailed with prisma glitter. The inside is stamped with "love makes life more bearable" in a rainbow pad. neat stamp!!!! Thanks Kim! Michelle Bergh: This colorful card is made on white CS. The front is totally covered with what looks like an airbrushing of all sorts of colors (could also be a background stamp) ( am I right???) the top and bottom edges are stamped with a scribble checkered border in multicolors. In the center of the card is a "hand-drawn" looking stamp of a darling little girl holding a big country heart. "From the heart" is directly above her head. The stamped image is also in multicolors. What a bright card! Thanks Michelle! Donnajo Troup: This beautiful card is made on white CS. The front is stamped with a large birdhouse with roses growing up the pedistal. A nice stamped image of a fence with a mailbox attached to it and flowers growing around it, is stamped beside it. Both images are nicely colored with pencils. The background sky and ground are lightly applyed with an airbrush or maybe chalks (nice effect!). The saying "The path to a friend's house is never long" is also stamped on the front. This is very nice! Donnajo also included a little ziplock bag of confetti for me to enjoy!!!! Thanks very much, Donnajo!!!!! Diane Hare: This square card is made on white CS. The front is stamped with a scene of scyscrapers in the background with a robot (embossed with black EP) infront shooting a tree (the shot is embossed in gold). In the upper right corner "Season's Greetings" is embossed with gold EP. The whole scene is colored with pencils. Neat card, thanks Diane! Ann Sipe: This Christmas card is made on white CS. The front is stamped with a cute nativity scene that looks like it might be a "Precious Moment" design. The image is colored brightly with FP. I really like this stamp!!!! Very nice, thanks Ann! Heather Reilly: This pretty card is made on white CS trimmed with FS. The front has a layer of tourquoise paper trimmed to match. On top of this a small yellow piece with a black border. Centered in this is a stamped image of a butterfly that is detailed with AIG. Really pretty Heather, thanks! Nancy Winn: This adorable House Mouse card is made on a lavender speckled CS. The front has a layer of white CS that is stamped with a House Mouse design of two mice flying through the air by holding the tail of a dragon fly. The image is colored beautifully with FP. The inside is stamped with "Believe in your dreams", in blue. Well done Nancy, thank you! Dona Malone: This beautiful card is made on dark green CS. The front has a layer of dusty rose CS that has the corners punched with a really nice punch. In the center is a stamped image of a heart made from lots of scribbles and swirls. This is embossed with black EP. The little swirls are colored dark rose and detailed with 3d laquer. Attached to the left of the heart is a dark rose button that matches the swirls in the heart perfectly! Very nice, the colors go so well together! Thanks Dona! Michelle Oakley: This pretty Christmas card is made on a light blue CS that looks like it has clouds in it's background. The front is stamped with a large Christmas scene of a small "winter" town. The town is colored lightly with pencils. Very nice, thanks Michelle! Carol Brown: This great card is made on dark green CS. The front has a bottom layer of a beige and green checkered background paper that has tiny apples in some of the checkers. On top of this is a very fine layer of a wispy totally see-through MP with tiny silver and gold flecks in it. Running diagonally across the front are 3 large apples each stamped, cut out and colored with pencils. The center one is raised above the other two with foam tape. This is very nicely done, thanks Carol! Cynde: This bright card is made on white CS. The front has a layer of light green tissue that has been torn and crumbled up. On top of this is a peice of dark green tissue that has been torn and crumpled. On top of this is a stamped image of a House Mouse hugging a little bird (sitting on a branch). This has been cut with FS. This is a really neat technique, the way you layer the tissue is really effective! Thanks Cynde! Bonnie Garby: This colorful card has a layer of light blue CS. Layered on top of this is a layer of darker blue CS and then a layer of white. The white is stamped with an ocean scene that is made up of all sorts of bold (Posh????) stamps in many brilliant colors. The fish in the scene are all multi-colored. This is awsome! Thanks Bonnie! Ruth Soldavini: Ruth totally spoiled me rotten. She sent me a wonderful get well card with a large chocolate heart on it!!! She also sent me a package of the neatest little heart shaped blackboards (These are sooooo coool!!!!) and a package of purple and fushcia star shaped "puffins" (puffy, satin decorations)!!!!!! Thanks so much Ruth!!!! Ruth's card is made on beige CS. In the upper half of the card there is a stamped "Your Kindness touches my heart". Underneath this is a peice of cream CS trimmed with FS. Sitting raised above it is a cute image of a teddy bear holding a large patchwork heart. The image is nicely colored with FP. In the teddy's hair is a tiny white satin bow. There is also a navy button and a sheer satin bow attached to the heart. Adorable, thanks for everything Ruth!!!!! Patty Tupper: This pretty card is made on pale green CS. The front is framed with very nicely done dry embossing. In the center is "Touch the hearts of other, and angels do" embossed with gold EP. In the upper left corner are 3 tiny hearts embossed with gold EP. Int he bottom right corner is a tiny little angel embossed with gold EP. The inside bottom right corner has 3 hearts embossed in gold, that match the ones on the front. This is really pretty (my Mom loved it!), thanks Patty! Carole Mork: This adorable postcard is made on dark burgundy CS. The front is stamped with a "Precious Moment" bride and groom (the groom is inside a large box of clothes with a huge top hat on!LOL). Above it is a small square of white MP that has the edges torn. Layered on top is a peice of whate paper trimmed with FS and stamped with "For Someone Special". Very nice, thanks Carole! Becci Thomas: This wonderful card is made on a light brown CS that has the look of cardboard. All four edges are rounded. Centered on this is a layer of dark purple CS trimmed with FS. In the upper half of this layer there is a peice of CS that matches the light brown of the card, it is stamped with "Love conquers all!". Underneath it is a peice of matching light brown paper with its corners rounded. It is stamped with a "Boyd Bear" who is sitting opening a valentine heart filled with chocolates. The inside of the card reads "Chocolate does the rest" on either side of the saying are little stamped chocolates. Very well done, thanks Becci! And that's all she wrote.... Stay Happy and Healthy! Hi Heather! Pearl-Ex does NOT require heat, but it will withstand heat if you emboss on top of it. Try mixing it with acrylic paint and coloring your stamped images. Put a thin layer of glue on a black card and rub the powder all over it. (I use Aleene's paper napkin applique glue because it's fairly thin, spreads easily and dries quickly). Emboss an image with white powder (or any color) and rub Pearl-Ex on the embossing - it sticks! I like to color an image with markers and then paint a mixture of thin glue and Pearl-Ex on top. Works great for mermaid tails & fish, jewelry images, etc. I know there are others out there with even better ideas! :) Lisa Mallette euphoria@gru.net OK now I bought some pearl ex & don't know how to use it! Bear with me for the descriptions. Three of the stampers used The stamp "Near the Sea......" from PSX but their cards were quite different. I liked this because I have few stamps which I use a lot. Tania made a card from white cardstock with corner shells embosed in cold and coloured in pastel colors top right and bottom left corners. She then layered two pices of tissue(?) paper, both with torn edges, one beige with blue edging and the top one dark blue. The stamp was then embossed with gold. Anne used the same "Near The Sea..." stamp but layered her card with:- pink paper, cut with fancy scissors and edged with turquoise. paper with a very fine pattern in pink and turquoise white card, fancy edged and edged with pink The stamp is embossed with aqua pigment ink and bridal sparkle embossing powder. There are two tiny dolphins cut out and mounted on opposite corners so that they are slightly raised. Sheryl used the same stamp again but added lots of fish in black at the top of her card and lots of coloured shells at the bottom. The bacground goes from aqua through pink and orange to very light green. Lynne used one shell stamp which she stamped three times in dusky pink, embossed and then added fine glitter. She cut out around the shells so the aqua background shows underneath. Ally made an aqua coloured shaker card filled with sand. She has used Shell Corner from Stampworld on opposite corners, embossed with silver and glitter. The background for the inside of the window is lots of tiny shells. Belinda's card is white with a layer of black and white gingham paper. The background scene of a beach is stamped on white shiny card and embossed with black but she tells me she brayered the card to get the effect of colour changing from palest blue through to orange. A little person wearing only a hat and carrying a bucket and spade has its back to us and is cut out and placed on the card so that it is slightly raised. There are gold embossed shells in each corner. These descriptions don't do the cards justice. Thank you everyone for all the terrific ideas and a big thank you to Liz for hosting the swap. I made a really pretty card with vellum, and the vellum is attached with a bow tied with a beautiful organza ribbon. Now, how do I mail the card without squishing the bow? Obviously, a traditional flat envelope won't work! Help! I need to get this in the mail by tomorrow! It was a Valentine's Day card and it has a really striking design. There is a strip of red mulberry paper glued vertically in the centre of a dark blue card. Then a brown corrugated paper heart was glued in the middle (over the red strip) and a small heart charm was glued to the centre of the corrugated paper heart. I loved the inside of the card. It looked like a ransom note with all the words cut out from newspaper and magazines, except it had a nice message which said "Happy Valentine's Day. Love your SST" instead of something sinister like, "Hand over all your rubberstamps in a brown paper bag and nobody gets hurt!" Thanks SST for making my day.
