I've tried stamping on aluminum foil and really like the technique. I've used colorbox ink and embossed the image. It's amazing how quickly the powder sets. You just have to be careful not to bend the foil too much after stamping or the embossed image will peel off. For coloring, I used paints meant for coloring "fake" stained glass. They run about $2 per bottle and I found them in a craft store near the suncatchers/leaded glass supplies. The embossed image's line keep the paint from spreading. Another tip: crinkle the foil, then smooth before stamping. It adds an awesome texture to the image.
