Just to plug another web resource, if anyone ever needs some free space on the web to put your pages, latest aurora shots, etc., I'd recommend http://northsky.org If you go there now, there's not much, but I'd envision eventually building some form of online community of astronomy enthusiasts. The site is built on the tools that power the free web page providers freeservers.com and 50megs.com. Basically you get 20 megs of free web space, and your own whatever.northsky.org subdomain as your address. There are lots of nice tools that make it easy to build a nice-looking web site. Ok, so this is sounding like spam already and I'll shut up. :-) But I just wanted to let people know of its availablility. Brent, where was your 22 inch that you are selling? You may have had some takers, money was just a flyin'. Although the public didn't come out in droves, we had a very successful swap meet and people trickled in the whole time to look at the sun. Old Sol would peek out from behind the clouds quite often so we all got to see through a variety of scopes at him. Doug Say brought the 18 incher from OAS ("BOB") and we had everything from binoculars to Dobsonians to whatever you wanted to checkout. Chuck Hards sold a couple of real fine looking scopes plus some other assorted items. I know of an ETX and some other high end items that sold as well. We all got some good ideas for home projects by looking at each others gear. We topped off the day with "advanced training" at the local Village Inn where a dozen or so of us swapped lies and filled our tanks. The OAS and SLAS are two great clubs and I like getting to know one another like today. Great activity everyone, thanks to Ziggy, Dave and their committees for putting it together.
