From: David Kenison Subject: Winter camping Date: 21 Feb 1996 07:13:56 -0700 (MST) I'm looking forward to warmer weather, since my main outdoors interest is summer hiking and backpacking and camping. However, in the mean time... There was an interesting article in yesterday's Salt Lake Tribune about cross-country skiing and winter camping in the North Fork Canyon area, along the Mirror Lake highway above Kamas. Is anyone familiar with this area? One of the nice things mentioned in the newspaper article is that there are separated areas where snowmobilers go; so those who prefer quiet solitude will be undisturbed. Any other good suggestions for winter hiking and/or camping activities? A nice snowshoe hike to a good camping area would be great too. Are open campfires allowed this time of year? Dave
