There's also a flipside to that, Kurt. If you bring in a used CD that's rare or out-of-print, you'll get good money for it. So, sure, OM will sell a used copy of Agencement's 'Viosphere' for $35, but the guy who sold it to the store probably made off with $25-30. They wouldn't have gotten nearly that much at Kim's. The person who does the used buying at OM is a very knowledgeable, hardcore collector. He knows what things are worth and what people will pay for them. But unlike most knowledgeable buyers, he doesn't screw over the customer whose looking to sell their stuff. I'm sorry if you don't like it that way. -Tom Pratt ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'd suggest you do a Web search under his name and you're sure to find a wealth of information. Briefly Lateef (real name Bill Evans) was first a saxophonist in the late swing, early bop era. Following his conversion to Islam, he moved to Detroit where he studied flute, oboe and various ethnic instruments. He began recording to a modified hard bop/Eastern sound style for Savoy and Prestige in the 1950s. He later was a member of Cannonball Adderley's group in the 1960s and since then has been on his own. He has recorded albums in every style from hyper-bebop to "exoticism" to so-called New Ag to funky tenor battles, taught in the United States and Africa and is generally recognized as one of the first Americans legitimately interested in world music. I was very disappointed. These guys are like a bad spoof lounge act now. They played almost only songs from their new album, a few from the 2nd one, the crappy ones. The lone bright spot was Travolta. This song rocked, and the place was going wild. They had a great crowd response for this song. They did play another song from the first album, My Ass Is On Fire, but it was such a shitty disco lounge fucked up version of the song, I don't want to talk about it. In 3 albums, this band has gone from having a CD in my top 10 all time, a concert I rank in the top 5, to having a CD I'll play frisbee with, and a concert that is by far the worst one I've seen this year, and probably for years to come.
